Kathmandu – The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a temporary restraining order in the case of ‘No Not Again.’ On a writ filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and advocate Anil Acharya, a single bench of Judge Hari Prasad Phuyal issued this order on Sunday.
The court has summoned both parties for a discussion via a show cause order.
A writ has been filed in the court against the Election Commission’s decision to ban social media pages such as ‘No Not Again’.
Advocate Acharya filed a petition demanding that the decision to ban the ‘No Not Again’ page and the warning be overturned because Nepal has only a positive vote system and the Supreme Court has already directed that a law allowing for ‘No Vote’ be enacted.
The election commission allegedly interfered with free speech when people spontaneously campaigned for ‘No Not Again’ when they were unable to arrange a no vote on the candidates they did not like, according to the writ petition.
